Learning outcomes 

Student is familiar with basic concepts of open and responsible science, understands the goals and benefits of conducting open science in a responsible way, knows the practices of open access publishing and has skills to utilize open information resources via online databases and repositories. Student is aware of the principles of research data management as a part of responsible data sharing planning.


The online course consists of three sections:

 1) Introduction to Open and Responsible Science: What is open science? What is responsible science in the context of open science? What are the benefits and challenges of open science?

 2) Open Access Publishing: Background of open access (OA) publishing. Options for OA publishing. Finding OA journals and OA publications. Responsible sharing. Open peer-review.

 3) Open Research Data: Background for sharing research data. Data management planning with open research data. Data reuse. Opening research data and metadata. Licences.
