Description
Learning outcomes 

The course is aimed at people who want to get a taste of Chinese language and strengthen their knowledge of ChineseĀ  ways and manners. The course aims at supporting the students? social manners and giving them basic Chinese phraseology needed for elementary politeness and cultural communicativeness.

 
Content 

The course requires no previous knowledge of Chinese language or culture. The focus is on how to behave correctly and politely in different kinds of real life situations one meets in studies, working life andĀ private social life.

Teaching methods 

Total working hours for each student 54 (2 cp)-108 (4 cp) hours. Maximum contact hours 24-48, some of which can be otherwise arranged with the lecturer and the participants.

Teaching methods used: lectures, oral work including role-plays in pairs and small groups, language laboratory pronunciation practice, vocabulary exercises, independent learning tasks (e.g. writing), computer supported learning. Minimum attendance requirement:50 %.

Material will be distributed in class, and a fee will be charged for it

 
Evaluation criteria 

The final grade will be consisted of four parts. Attendance, small vocabulary tests, class performance and the final exam at the end of
the semester. Attendance accounts for 10%, small quiz is 30%, the performance in class is 10% and finalexam accounts for 60%.

The language of tuition is English and Chinese.
