Learning outcomes

The objective of the course is to give the students an understanding of the historical and current development of the Finnish-Russian border region, especially Karelia.

The seminar introduces a series of topics related to the historical and cultural features of the Finnish-Russian borderland. The autumn seminar (Part I) focuses on border formation, border changes and cross-border encounters, interaction and co-operation in the long historical perspective.
