Learning outcomes

The Moot Court Competition provides an opportunity to deepen understanding of WTO- law and develop written/oral argumentation and presentation skills.

ELSA Moot Court Competition is an international competition in WTO law. It is organized in cooperation with international trade organizations and consists of and written and oral part.

Modes of study

Entry 2–4 person teams. The written part entails writing briefs for both claimant and respondent. The oral part simulates a hearing in WTO Dispute Settlement proceedings, where the teams will represent both complainant and respondent repspectively in front of a panel of WTO experts. European oral qualifying sessions are held in two European countries in the Spring. The semi-finalists will compete at WTO headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. The case is published in the fall. The written reports are returned and graded before the qualifying round. Total scores will determine ranking.
