Description
Learning outcomes 

Upon the completion of the course, the students are expected to be able to apply quantitative, logic-analytical and qualitative methods in the studying and developing of efficiency, effectiveness and processes of forest policy and organizations. The students are expected to be able to statistically and qualitatively describe the situation at hand and test hypotheses for the behavior of forest sector stakeholders derived from relevant theories with empirical data.

 
Content 

Essentials: Applications of economic and policy theories in the research of forestry and forest industries: determination of timber price, regional and international integration of timber markets, analysis of timber supply, international trade of forest industry products, business cycle fluctuations in forest industry and market forecasts. Econometric modeling and hypotheses testing with econometric software. Interpretation and reporting of the econometric results. Qualitative research in forest economy and policy. Qualitative data and its computer-aided analysis.
