Description
Learning outcomes 

After acting as a senior peer tutor, the student

1. understands the principles and development goals of the university’s tutor activities and student guidance system
2. can act as a member of a group of instructors to develop and implement peer tutor activities
3. understands their responsibilities and role as a senior tutor to act as part of the peer tutoring training schedule

 
Content 

Students participate in the planning, implementation and development of the tutor recruitment process and peer tutor training as peer trainers, experts and in other roles.

 
Modes of study 

Active participation in senior tutorial work for a minimum of one year and completion of a report on activities. With a minimum length of two pages, the report must indicate the time spent on each activity, including a detailed account of the meetings, classes and other activities related to peer tutoring that the student has attended and the nature of their activity therein. Scope: 27 hours for 1 ECTS credit or 54 hours for 2 credits. The report must also present the student's assessment of what they have learned while acting as a senior tutor. Senior tutoring entitles the tutor to claim credits only once. The tutors may apply for credits after completing their role as a tutor. Senior tutors of basic degree students submit their report to Student and Learning Services. Senior tutors involved in peer tutoring for master’s degree students or international exchange students submit their report to International Mobility Services.

 
Teaching methods 

Participation in the recruitment of peer tutors/tutors for international master’s and exchange students in cooperation with the Student Services initial guidance staff (e.g. info sessions and communication on tutor recruitment), participation in the planning, development and implementation of training for said tutors. Senior tutors support peer tutors in their work and provide guidance to students. Senior tutors may also assist in the development of subject tutors and in furthering cooperation between staff in their own faculty and peer tutors.

 
Evaluation criteria 

To pass, the student must have actively participated in senior tutorial work for a minimum of one year and write a tutoring report. Pass/fail.

 
Prerequisites 

Completion of either the course for peer tutoring (1131010) or the course for peer tutoring for exchange students (1131013). Prior experience as a peer tutor.
