Learning outcomes 
  1. Understand what it means to conduct research openly and the benefits and impact of doing so.
  2. Identify suitable tools to help you embrace Open Science at each stage of the research lifecycle.
  3. Understand the key challenges that can arise when researching in the open and how to address these.
  4. Ability to engage in the process of developing open science practices in your own research and for the benefit of the research field and society.

This national course is part of UEF doctoral school studies and is designed as an introduction to open science and research principles and practices.

The online course has four sections:

  1. Introduction
  2. Open Access
  3. Open Data
  4. Open Research Process

Sections are independent. Each section will include online lecture material, reading material, and opportunities to check your understanding. All materials for the course are available on the course platform in e-format.

You can complete the assignment task of the course in Finnish or in English.

Please, notice that the themes of open science are also covered in the course 8022020 Research Information Retrieval and Management (mainly in modules 4 (Publishing and research visibility) and 6 (Research data management)).
