Learning outcomes 

After completing this study module, the student knows the basics about forests, forestry, and forest industry in Russia.


Essentials: 1) forest resources, their classification and inventory, 2) silviculture and forest management, 3) nature protection and multiple use of forests, 4) logging systems and methods, wood use, 5) forest legislation, forest organisations and forest policy, 6) forest industry. Complementary knowledge: perspectives in Russian forest sector. Specific knowledge: differences to other countries with economies in transition.

Lectures in English (26 hours), literature, exam.
