Description
Learning outcomes 

The student understands the idea of modern web-based information systems and databases, as well as the special features of forest information systems, to the level to act as a forestry specialist in an information system project. The student will understand the applicability and use of mobile IT-systems.

 
Content 

Planning, creating, and exploiting databases for managing forest and environmental data.

(I) Planning an information system: designing data model and data flow; (II) Database planning and management: relational databases, data input, and data management; and (III) Environmental and forest data management in web-based GIS systems.

 
Modes of study 

Lectures (30 hours), exercises (30 hours), a practical project, specified literature, and a final examination. Evaluation is based on the examination (50%) and the practical project (50%).
