Modes of study

Participating in instruction and completing course assignments and exercises. The minimum attendance requirement for contact teaching is 50%.

Attendance of the first session is required to secure a place on the course. Course-specific, practical arrangements are agreed during the first session.

In order to complete the course and to be eligible for the course exam (if there is one), the student needs to meet the attendance requirement and successfully complete all course assignments within the set deadlines.

If the student has exceeded the maximum number of absences or has failed to submit course assignments in the set deadlines, the course enrolment is terminated. In this case the student cannot take part in the course exam or retake exam, but the course needs to be retaken in its entirety.

Teaching methods

Lectures, spoken and written pair and group exercises and independent study, for example. You should reserve 54 hours of total working time for the course.

The maximum number of contact teaching hours is 24, some of which may be held in another manner agreed by the teacher and class.

Study materials

Online and other material.

Evaluation criteria

Evaluation: 5-0.

To pass the course, the student must participate actively in instruction and pass the learning assignments and/or final exam.

If a student gets a fail grade, he has the right to a retake exam.

Prerequisites

The course starts at beginner level.

Offering data

The course is intended for international exchange students at the University of Eastern Finland.

Further information

Neither the course nor its parts are eligible for substitution.

For a compelling reason, the teacher can allow an alternative method to complete the course than the methods mentioned in the curriculum.
