Description
Learning outcomes 

Student learns the basic principles of NMR and mass spectroscopy, is able to use instruments, and is able to interpret one and two dimensional 1H and 13 C NMR spectra and mass spectra. In addition, student identifies the possible applications of NMR and mass spectroscopy in pharmacy and biosciences. The students will be able to design and quantitate drugs by HPLC-MS, as well as identify metabolites and proteins by MS.

 
Content 

Lectures contain theoretical background of chromatography, NMR and mass spectroscopy and the potential applications. Exercises cover interpretation of NMR and mass spectra and hands-on experience with sample preparation, NMR and mass spectroscopy.

Participation in exercises and final examination.

Fundamentals of Chemistry 1 and 2 (KP1, KP2), Analytical Chemistry 2 (ANA2) or equal studies.
