Learning outcomes 

The student will learn advanced methodologies that are used in analyzing spatial data in the applied geoinformatics as well as the underlying concepts and theories.


Spatial modelling, geostatistics, and spatial analysis for managing environmental data including: advanced discussions of spatial interpolation, error, and uncertainty; multi-objective decision making; transportation optimization and data visualization. The topics of forestry applications may vary from year to year.

Modes of study 

Lectures (24 hours), exercises (30 hours), a practical project with a report, specified literature, and a final examination.

Associate professor, digitalization and knowledge leadership in forest-based bioeconomy


Applied geoinformatics 1 (3510005) or equivalent studies and basic skills in the use of ArcGIS software.


Every other year (Spring 2022).
